Poker revenues at the Entraction and Playtech-owned iPoker network dropped 23% and 5% respectively in Q2.
Playtech, the owners of the iPoker network, reported a 5% drop in poker revenues during Q2 2010 compared to the previous quarter.
Poker revenues were €15.8 million, which the firm put down to a focus on World Cup marketing by its sportsbook dominated client base.
'I believe that Playtech’s poker network strategy has helped to mitigate the impact of the decline in the poker market, where the unlevel playing field remains keenly felt,' Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO, said.
'The iPoker network is focusing on attracting and nurturing new recreational players who are the lifeblood of a healthy network.'
Poker revenues at the Entraction Network dropped by 23% in the second quarter to €4.98 million, which it put down to the European economic cimate and the distraction of the World Cup.
But Peter Astrom, CEO of Entraction, said market conditions were in favor of Entraction.
'The turbulence and consolidation we are seeing in the gaming sector place us, as an independent supplier and owner of one of the world's largest poker networks, in a unique position as poker operators now look round for alternatives,' Astrom said.
